Sheila has deep roots in the Augusta county area of Virginia. She has encountered various situations that have instilled in her the value and importance of a community full of services, as well as resources, to individuals and their families living with disabilities.
Sheila and her husband were legal guardians and advocates for a lovely boy with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome for seven years. She knows firsthand the great need and awareness of any available resources to help families in similar situations.
Previously, Sheila has worked as an attendant caregiver for her stepfather during his last precious years of life. The services available to him allowed Sheila to see the beauty that these services provide. Through his Medicaid Waiver, as well as services provided through Moms In Motion, her stepfather was able to be in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by those who loved him. The available resources, along with the support of Hospice, allowed for his final wishes to be granted.
Sheila's mother is currently receiving these same beautiful services provided by the CCC Plus program. She is thrilled to help connect other consumers to these and other available resources through Moms In Motion.
Heather is proud to join the Moms In Motion team as a Family Resource Specialist. For the past ten years, as a Family Team Specialist for the March of Dimes, Heather has assisted families with the challenges that they face with children born premature and with birth defects. Her passion is working with the government, the community, and individuals to advocate for the needs of individuals with differentiating abilities.
Heather understands firsthand how important support from the community is to families that include individuals living with disabilities. She is the proud mother of two children with lifelong disabilities due to a rare genetic syndrome. Heather is passionate to help guide families to resources that improve the quality of life of individuals living with disabilities and their families.
